While I was relaxing at home the other day I found myself reflecting back on my first few months at Cognitive and the learning curve that everyone who joins the team must quickly tackle. We are a close knit, fast-paced team, which does not leave a lot of time for dilly dallying or taking your sweet time to learning the business; joining Cognitive means hitting the ground running. As I thought more and more about it, three topics stood out to me as most significant in becoming an acquainted employee and team member:
1) We are a hybrid agency
This can be a little tricky to wrap your head around at first because in practice it means we have so many products/services to offer. I mean, just look at our list of capabilities on our “Products” page! Understanding all our capabilities, and then being able to identify what best matches our clients’ needs is not something that can be mastered overnight, which makes sense considering that our capabilities are the result of our partners’ well-rounded industry expertise.
2) Our Exceptional Client Service
It may sound obvious that we strive to meet 100% satisfaction, but what does that even really mean? Well, part of the learning curve is understanding that every aspect of the project is completed with the client’s objectives top of mind, down to the letter. It becomes engrained into our decision making process. While the words “client services” often get thrown around loosely at many places, at Cognitive it is considered the number one rule in how we conduct our work.
3) Company Culture/joining the family
From day one it became obvious that being on the team meant gaining a bunch of new friends. That might sound a little cliché or corny, but it can be more challenging than you would think to let go of the strict work environment and embrace our casual atmosphere. However, it was nothing that a few company lunches and a holiday party couldn’t fix!
Understanding who we are, adopting the gold standard to delivering exceptional client services, and adjusting to the company culture are the three biggest steps to tackling the learning curve as a new team member at Cognitive. Whether you are reading this out of pure curiosity, or maybe you are interested in coming onboard, I hope you leave with a better understanding of initial journey that all new hires here take!
